TEAM
BIKE AND RUN LONDON
2007 was a
first for us in that we put our name to an Elite cycle
racing squad, racing in national and Premier Calendar
races. The team was also soponsored by Look Frames,
SRAM, Met and Continental Tyres all of which were provided
through Bike and Run. The team, under the guidance and
leadership of Henry Furniss had a reasonably good start
to the season placing well in some major races. Unfortunately
as the season progressed a number of team members were
unable to compete due to injury and finally only Ben
Pochee and Henry remaind to finish off the season.
Ben Pochee
notably finishing well in a number of national hill
climbs.
For 2008 we
have decided to continue the Bike and Run London team
but on a less ambitious footing.
Going forward
we will retain out team membership of British Cycling
and welcome any riders who wish to race for us at any
level from 4th Cat upwards. All you will need to dom
is purchase the kit from us and sign up with BC in our
name.
The team kit
is still the same as 2007 although new colours will
be available in March ready for the summer race season.

SPONSORSHIP
In 2007 we
continued to sponsor Optima Racing team,
which is primarily aimed at Triathlon and Duathlon events,
both as a team and for individuals. There is a strong
junior sqaud and we assisted them in providing Bianchi
bikes to many of the junior members of the team at a
very favourable terms. The juniors and senior team members
had a very good year in all, particularly James Beckinsale
the founder and coach of Optima as can be seen by there
results ;
www.optimahealth.co.uk
We also continue
to sponsor Stuart McGowan who is a
senior age group duathlete/triathlete. 2007 of course
went from bad to worse what with falling off a pavement
the day before he was due to fly to Gyor for the World
Duathlon champs and wrecking his ankle, and then getting
shingles before the National Triathlon champs, all wrapped
up with crashing again on boxing day....
In between he did win the age-group at
Blithfield tri, got 2nd in the Nat. Duath champs, 2nd
in the Duath rankings series, won the Triathlon
rankings title, AND won the World Long
Distance Duathlon Championship in Richmond.
A year of big lows and huge highs!
2008 targets are Nat. Duathlon and Triathlon champs
(Milton Keynes and Wakefield), European Du Champs in
Greece, World L.D. Duath in Geel, Belgium, in August,
and World L.D. Triathlon champs, Holland end of August. And
trying to stay on the bike!!
